Northwood Space is a modern space infrastructure company building a global network of phased array ground stations for satellite communications. The company designs, builds, and deploys scalable systems supporting national security, global connectivity, and disaster response missions.
As a Senior RF Hardware Engineer, you will lead RF electronics design and performance across next-generation ground station products. You will drive RF performance trades that influence overall network and portal architecture, collaborating across electrical, RF, mechanical, manufacturing, and software engineering disciplines from concept through production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design RF electronics hardware for next-generation products and iterate on existing designs to improve reliability, performance, and manufacturability
- Create electromagnetic simulation models (amplifiers, filters, PCB layouts) to evaluate performance
- Build and characterize RF circuits including LNAs, filters, power amplifiers, and support circuitry (power supplies, digital control)
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to characterize and troubleshoot integrated RF system performance
You will need a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline and 5+ years of RF design experience in circuits, filters, or antennas. Preferred qualifications include RF line-up design (considering non-linearity, noise, output power, blocker/jammer tolerance), power amplifier and LNA design, point-of-load converter experience, digital interfaces (I2C/SPI), and proficiency with RF testing metrics (EVM, Noise Figure, IIP2, IMD, impedance matching, amplifier stability). Python or similar language skills for data analysis and test automation are valued.
This role requires obtaining and maintaining a Top Secret Security Clearance as a condition of employment. You must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for required State Department authorizations per ITAR regulations. The position may require extended hours and weekend work as needed.
