Apple's Instrument Engineering team is seeking a Senior RF Engineer to join a customer-facing technical team in Munich, Germany. This small team of specialized engineers designs and produces precision RF test equipment for calibrating and testing cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, mmWave, UWB, and NFC radios across millions of Apple devices including iPhones, iPads, Macs, Vision Pro, Watches, and AirPods.
In this role, you will serve as a local technical expert and primary point of contact for Apple's internal RF test equipment. You'll work closely with cellular development engineers, providing technical support from early engagements through feature delivery. Responsibilities include independent troubleshooting of complex RF measurement challenges, mentoring junior team members, architecting scalable automation solutions, and building relationships with cross-functional engineering teams.
You will conduct technical demonstrations, workshops, and presentations to explain complex RF concepts to diverse audiences. The role requires excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—to translate technical complexity for internal stakeholders. Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally is expected.
Required qualifications include extensive industry experience with deep RF fundamentals, DSP, and communications theory knowledge. You must have strong experience with RF measurements for 4G/5G cellular technologies, including EVM, ACLR, SEM, and IQ mismatch analysis. Proficiency in Python, C++, or MATLAB is essential, with demonstrated ability to develop scalable, object-oriented software. Experience automating RF test equipment from vendors like Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, National Instruments, LitePoint, or Anritsu is required. You must independently debug complex RF system issues and hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related discipline (Master's or higher preferred).
Preferred experience includes RF parameter data analysis, both non-signaling and signaling cellular test equipment, and applications or pre/post-sales engineering roles with direct customer interaction.
