Glyphic Biotechnologies is developing a massively parallel, single-molecule proteome sequencing platform to transform life science discovery. The company has raised over $80M in venture funding and grant support to advance next-generation proteome sequencing. You will join the proteomics team as a hands-on Senior Research Associate, reporting to the principal proteomics scientist. This is a bench-focused role executing the day-to-day operations of tissue and cell sample preparation and mass spectrometry analysis. As sample volumes scale rapidly, you'll take ownership of sample processing workflows and gain deep training on the Orbitrap Astral Zoom + Vanquish Neo platform from experienced mass spec scientists. Key responsibilities include: **Sample Preparation & Protein Enrichment** - Prepare tissue and cell samples for LC-MS/MS-based proteomics, including precise tissue dissection and cell pellet processing - Execute protein and peptide enrichment strategies, including cell-surface labeling and immunopeptidomics workflows - Follow validated protocols for protein extraction and purification across diverse sample types - Utilize automation to achieve 96-well plate format throughput at scale **Mass Spectrometry & Analytical Platforms** - Learn and operate the Orbitrap Astral Zoom mass spectrometer, including troubleshooting and routine calibration - Maintain consistent, reliable instrument performance by following established SOPs - Support the transition to fully automated systems as they come online **Collaboration & Documentation** - Work closely with proteomics and cross-functional teams to maintain sample processing schedules - Document methods and maintain SOPs to ensure reproducible results - Communicate proactively, surfacing issues early to prevent downstream problems Required qualifications: BS/MS in Proteomics, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field with 2+ years of industry or academic experience. Hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS-based proteomics, processing complex clinical samples (tissue dissection, cell pellet handling), sample preparation and protein enrichment strategies, and familiarity with data-independent acquisition (DIA). Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills required. Occasional weekend availability (~1-2 hours) needed. Nice-to-have skills: experience with Thermo Orbitrap instruments and Vanquish Neo LCs, cell surface proteomics, immunopeptidomics workflows, low-input sample LC-MS/MS, high-throughput automation, protein chemistry and post-translational modifications, and basic bioinformatics scripting (R, Python).
