eGenesis is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing human-compatible engineered organs to address the global organ shortage. The company uses proprietary genome engineering to create genetically modified porcine organs, with EGEN-2784 (a porcine kidney) currently in an Expanded Access study at Massachusetts General Hospital.
You will join the Development team as a Senior Research Associate supporting preclinical and translational science immunological assay execution in xenotransplantation. This role focuses on delivering reliable flow cytometry-based screening assay results that inform patient selection and monitoring throughout transplantation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Execute, analyze, and report flow cytometry-based screening assays for exploratory and clinical studies
- Plan assay schedules and coordinate samples, reagents, controls, instrumentation, and data analysis to ensure timely, reliable results
- Maintain reagent and cell-control inventories, monitor stock levels and expiration dates, and prepare critical materials for routine execution
- Support assay optimization outside of clinical sample requests
- Troubleshoot assay performance, investigate deviations, and implement improvements to strengthen robustness and reproducibility
- Perform and assist with primary cell derivations for different organ programs
- Support exploratory requests across programs as priorities and capacity allow
- Collaborate with analytical development, preclinical, translational, and computational biology teams
- Interpret experimental data and present findings to internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain accurate, detailed laboratory records in compliance with regulatory standards
- Contribute to research reports and regulatory submissions
The role involves significant cell culture work, in vitro and ex vivo analyses with porcine, non-human primate, and human cells and biosamples. Most time is dedicated to planning, running, analyzing, and documenting assay workflows. You will work closely with clinical, translational, and cross-functional partners to ensure all samples, reagents, controls, records, and results are ready and current.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Immunology, Biology, or related field
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in immunology, translational science, assay development, or related area within biotechnology
- Demonstrated proficiency in routine execution, analysis, and troubleshooting of multi-color flow cytometry assays; flow cytometry-based screening experience strongly preferred
- Experience with primary cell culture and handling human or preclinical biospecimens
- Sample management experience (collection, processing, storage, documentation)
- Strong laboratory documentation and data-management skills, including electronic laboratory notebook records; Benchling familiarity preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present assay results clearly
- Ability to work independently, manage recurring multi-day assay workflows, balance urgent requests with optimization work, and meet deadlines in fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Experience supporting exploratory or clinical studies in regulated or quality-conscious environment is a plus
