FlixBus is seeking a Senior Regional Operations Manager based in Madrid to oversee all operational aspects of the company's bus partner network in Spain. This is a hands-on role combining strategic oversight with field-based execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all operational topics related to bus partners, including onboarding, training, and maintaining high standards in safety, quality, and punctuality
- Train, support, and develop drivers of bus partners; conduct regular inspections of buses to ensure quality standards
- Monitor and analyze KPIs to identify improvement areas and provide actionable recommendations to enhance partner performance and service quality
- Ensure compliance with FlixBus procedures and protocols across all partner operations
- Coordinate with internal teams (Line Planning, Business Development) and external stakeholders (coach operators, infrastructure providers) to ensure seamless operations and strong partnerships
- Oversee the launch and continuous improvement of new lines and stops, ensuring operational readiness and alignment with FlixBus standards
- Conduct regular field inspections and support bus partners' drivers and supervisors to uphold brand image and customer service excellence
- Lead and support cross-functional operational projects focused on enhancing passenger and driver experience
- Obtain Transport Manager Certification within one year (cost covered by Flix)
The role is based in Madrid with regular travel throughout Spain required. You will work in an international team and have direct influence on company success.
Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years of experience in Operations or a dynamic daily environment (handling incoming requests with long-term project development)
- Spanish (native or proficient speaker level) is mandatory; highly fluent English required. Language skills will be tested
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders (bus drivers, operations supervisors) with strong social and negotiation skills
- Ability to analyze reports, draw conclusions, and provide data-driven solutions
- Demonstrated trustworthiness, engagement, flexibility, and hands-on mentality
- Organized, independent, reliable, and responsible working style
- Willing to travel regularly around Spain
- Experience in the transportation industry is a plus
