Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Radio Frequency Engineer to own the communications architecture for Thunder, an autonomous attack rotorcraft designed to operate alongside crewed combat aviation. Based in London, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, integrating, testing, and optimizing RF communications hardware across the Thunder Mission System and its subsystems.
Your core responsibilities include developing RF link budgets, co-site analysis, and desense reports that translate into actionable design decisions for cross-functional teams. You will configure, simulate, evaluate, and test RF systems and datalinks in both laboratory and field environments. You'll create and maintain RF system interconnect diagrams and supporting design documentation, while selecting and managing radio, RF component, cable, and antenna vendors.
A critical aspect of this role is representing the communications subsystem in vehicle-level trade studies that define and optimize the platform. You will support other engineering teams by bringing deep understanding of communications system impacts and trade-offs to their design decisions. The role demands someone who is meticulous about detail, comfortable defending technical positions, and willing to revise them when measurements indicate otherwise.
Required qualifications include 7+ years of hands-on RF systems design, build, test, and troubleshooting experience. You must hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience. Deep expertise in RF link budgets, co-site analysis, desense, EMI, and system-level integration is essential. You should be fluent with RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, signal generators) and experienced with RF system modeling and simulation.
Experience with electrical integration of avionics modules and payloads into UAVs, ground vehicles, C2 systems, or weapons systems is required. Working knowledge of aviation communications systems, tactical communications systems, Ethernet, and IP networking is necessary. Proficiency in Python for test automation and data analysis is expected. You must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active UKSV Security Clearance.
Preferred qualifications include familiarity with Ofcom and/or FCC spectrum authorizations, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, DO-160, or MIL-STD-810 standards, experience with MANET and mesh waveforms, GPS-denied and EW-contested environment design/testing, and anechoic chamber experience.
