Zoox is seeking a Senior Radar Engineer to translate stakeholder needs into measurable requirements and test plans for radar systems. In this role, you will define and document radar requirements, conduct radar testing to drive radar selection and future roadmaps, and work at the intersection of hardware, software, and autonomy systems.
You will be responsible for establishing testing protocols, evaluating radar performance, and ensuring radar systems integrate effectively with ML-based autonomy software. This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep expertise in automotive radar systems and the ability to troubleshoot complex problems spanning hardware and software domains.
The role is based in Foster City, CA, and is ideal for an engineer with strong fundamentals in signal processing, electromagnetic systems, and autonomous vehicle technology.
**Requirements:**
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Signal Processing
- 5+ years of experience in radar development and testing
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, Git/GitHub, and AI tools
- Understanding of automotive radar working principles (e.g., FMCW)
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting radar systems at the hardware-software interface
- Experience integrating radar systems and concepts into ML-based autonomy software
**Bonus Qualifications:**
- Experience with numerical, electromagnetic, or system simulation of radar performance and integration
- Familiarity with system engineering workflows and requirement development
