Quantum Motion Technologies is a fast-growing quantum computing scale-up founded by internationally renowned researchers from University College London and Oxford University. The company develops quantum processors based on industrial-grade silicon chips with applications in materials modelling, medicine, artificial intelligence, and more. Headquartered in London with global facilities in Sydney, San Sebastián, and Maryland, the company has raised $160 million in Series C funding and has been recognized as a Top 100 Startup worth watching by EE Times.
As a Senior Quantum Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing and executing experiments focused on silicon-based quantum systems. Your work will emphasize thermal management in quantum chips and assessing the impact of control peripherals on quantum processing unit (QPU) operations. You will contribute to the EU-funded SPINs project, which aims to industrialize semiconductor spin-qubit quantum chips under the EU Chips Act.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, configuring, and executing experiments on multi-qubit silicon devices, with emphasis on high-frequency, low-noise signal acquisition and thermal transport measurements
- Supporting the architectural design of scalable quantum computing systems built on silicon platforms
- Assisting in optimization of cryogenic infrastructure, including dilution refrigerator setups, for quantum device testing
- Writing and maintaining software tools for measurement automation and data analysis
- Performing rigorous analysis of experimental results to support internal decision-making and technical manuscripts
You will work closely with scientists, engineers, and experts in a dynamic, collaborative environment dedicated to developing scalable quantum computers based on silicon technology.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must-have:
- PhD degree in physics, engineering, or related field
- Proven record of experience in characterization of nanoelectronic devices
- Proficiency with Python
- Expertise in radiofrequency or microwave electronics
- Ability to independently design and carry out complex experiments; perform data analysis and prepare technical reports and presentations
- Strong collaborative approach with good communication and interpersonal skills
- Inquisitive nature and logical approach to problem solving
Desirable:
- Experimental experience with semiconductor quantum dots
- Experimental experience with nanoscale thermal transport
- Experience in development of software interfaces to hardware/instrumentation
