As Senior Quality Software Engineer, you will own the quality function for Core Engineering from the ground up. This is a foundational hire with clear scope: build test automation infrastructure, establish coverage standards, create measurable quality metrics, and provide go/no-go release recommendations backed by data.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and own test automation frameworks covering unit, integration, regression, and scenario-level testing in Rust and Python
- Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines with enforced quality gates, including security checks (SAST, dependency scanning, vulnerability scanning)
- Embed security and compliance validation as first-class citizens in the quality function, ensuring CUI and export-controlled data never reach insecure test paths
- Build and maintain component-level quality dashboards that feed into program-level go/no-go views for leadership
- Own release checklists and issue recommendations backed by functional, security, and compliance evidence
- Triage test failures and provide engineers with diagnoses rather than symptoms
- Maintain test suite health through review cadence, deprecation of stale tests, and coverage gap identification
- Translate quality metrics into language that drives release decisions at leadership level
- Scale the QE function as the team grows
Required qualifications: 7+ years building test infrastructure (not inheriting it), production-quality test code, Python proficiency with Rust or clear path to it, hands-on CI/CD integration experience, ownership of quality dashboards driving go/no-go decisions, fluency in distributed and concurrent systems, integrated security testing experience aligned to NIST 800-171 or equivalent, and background in defense, robotics, aerospace, or autonomous systems. U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain security clearance required.
Preferred: hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing, simulation-based test pipelines, edge/resource-constrained testing, or active security clearance.
