Voyager Technologies, a space, defense, and national security technology company, is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead product and process quality efforts within an energetics manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing complex quality initiatives in the production of explosives, propellants, pyrotechnics, and related energetic materials. Key responsibilities include leading the development and continuous improvement of quality systems in compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements (ATF, DoD, OSHA). You will provide technical leadership to manufacturing operations, ensuring process controls, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria are robust and well-defined. The role involves leading root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) efforts for complex nonconformances, defects, and customer complaints. You will own the review and approval of manufacturing procedures, inspection instructions, and quality records related to energetics production. Internal and external audit leadership, quality data analysis, and strategic continuous improvement initiatives are core to the position. Mentoring junior and associate quality engineers, leading cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, EHS, and Supply Chain, and managing supplier quality activities are essential components. The role requires leading failure investigations, material review boards (MRB), and risk assessments (FMEA), with findings presented to technical and cross-functional audiences. A strong commitment to safety, security, and handling requirements for energetic materials is critical, as is championing a safety culture within the team. You will contribute to the strategic direction of the quality organization and lead technical discussions with cross-functional leaders. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related discipline) and 7+ years of quality engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing environment with demonstrated technical leadership. Deep working knowledge of quality management systems, inspection methods, and statistical techniques is essential. Proven expertise in root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, SPC) and strong communication skills across technical and executive audiences are required. Preferred qualifications include extensive experience in energetics, explosives, aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing industries, and ASQ certifications such as CQE, CQA, or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
