LawnStarter is the nation's leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and outdoor services, with over $100M in annual bookings. The company is expanding beyond lawn care to become a one-stop shop for all home services, operating three brands (LawnStarter, Lawn Love, Home Gnome) on a shared platform. The engineering team has spent the last two years rebuilding the platform from the ground up with a new customer app, Pro onboarding, job distribution engine, and data infrastructure. The tech stack is PHP (Laravel) and React/React Native, with Cypress as the primary test framework. Claude Code is actively integrated into the engineering workflow as a core part of how the team works. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will own quality strategy and execution across the organization. Rather than reactive testing, this role is proactive: owning automation coverage strategy, shaping the bug triage and resolution process, and partnering closely with Product, Design, and Data teams to catch problems before they reach customers. Key responsibilities include: - Designing and growing the E2E and integration test suite using Cypress, setting strategy and prioritizing coverage gaps - Owning the full bug lifecycle from triage through production fix, keeping stakeholders informed - Collaborating with PMs, Designers, and Data teams to review requirements, surface risks early, and define acceptance criteria - Identifying gaps in quality processes and implementing solutions - Performing exploratory testing on web and mobile across devices - Exploring AI tools and new approaches to improve quality operations and reduce repetitive work You will report to the Engineering Manager and be embedded across the engineering organization, working directly with engineers, PMs, Designers, and the Data team. This is a hands-on, strategic role focused on raising the quality ceiling for the entire team. Success in year one means: automation coverage remains strong as new features ship with tests as baseline; bug process runs smoothly with predictable triage-to-fix cycles; you develop deep business knowledge of the marketplace to anticipate edge cases; and you ship at least one meaningful quality process improvement.
