KAYAK, part of Booking Holdings, is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to drive quality strategy and practices for KAYAK for Business (K4B), a critical business domain serving millions of travelers. This role requires 3 days per week in the Concord, MA office. You will define and track quality metrics (defect escape rate, automation coverage, release risk score) for critical business domains, sharing progress with engineering and product teams. You'll design and drive a built-in quality strategy aligned with business goals—such as shift-left testing, contract testing between services, or synthetic monitoring. You'll triage customer-facing issues, identify trends, and escalate critical issues to engineering teams. Key responsibilities include evaluating and piloting AI-assisted quality tools for test case generation, defect triage, and log analysis. You'll audit and expand automated test coverage across unit, integration, API, and end-to-end tiers, identifying gaps and prioritizing investments based on risk and usage data. You'll refine production testing practices (canary releases, synthetic transactions, error-rate dashboards) to catch escaped bugs and drive preventive fixes. You'll lead user acceptance and staging sign-off on major releases, coordinating with product and engineering teams. You'll run knowledge-sharing sessions, pairing, and test-plan reviews to raise the quality bar across engineering teams, and contribute to evolving asynchronous quality practices—moving quality from a release gate to an ongoing, embedded discipline. Required: 5+ years understanding quality metrics and their trade-offs; solid knowledge of CI/CD, version control, APIs, and large-scale web applications; experience applying AI tools to test planning, issue triage, or automation; demonstrated ability to lead quality-focused projects spanning multiple teams; clear communication skills and ownership mindset; background in computer science or related field (degree, bootcamp, self-directed study, or equivalent hands-on experience). Desirable: Quality leadership in specialized areas (vendor management, crowd testing, accessibility, API testing); technical travel experience with GDS background; experience with offshore or globally distributed teams; mobile app testing; efficient AI use in quality; ISTQB certification.
