Runlayer is a platform for managing AI Agents, MCPs (Model Context Protocol), and Skills with enterprise-grade security, governance, and observability. The company recently raised $30M Series A (total $42M) and is trusted by companies like Gusto, Instacart, and dbt Labs.
You will own quality and testability for Runlayer Endpoint, a cross-platform product running on macOS, Windows, Linux, and enterprise device-management systems. This is a hands-on senior engineering role combining exploratory testing, release qualification, and test-infrastructure development.
Key responsibilities include: owning release testing and quality assurance; building and operating physical and virtual device labs; designing scalable test strategies across platforms, configurations, and AI clients; automating installation, enrollment, configuration, upgrade, and rollback flows; testing deployments through enterprise MDM platforms (Intune, Jamf, Kandji, etc.); validating integrations with AI coding clients; building agent-driven testing tools; integrating quality signals into CI/release workflows; reproducing customer issues and converting them to regression tests; partnering with engineers on diagnostics and observability; and defining testability standards for new platforms and features.
Required qualifications: senior-level experience owning QA automation or test infrastructure; strong Python and system scripting (Bash, PowerShell); hands-on cross-platform testing (macOS, Windows, Linux); experience with endpoint management, MDM, or fleet orchestration; native installation, upgrades, background services, permissions, and OS configuration testing; integration, end-to-end, stateful, and combinatorial testing knowledge; ability to distinguish product defects from infrastructure failures; CI-driven system building with diagnostics; clear technical judgment and excellent bug reporting.
Bonus: MDM platform experience (Intune, Jamf Pro, Kandji, SimpleMDM, Mosyle, Workspace ONE); endpoint-security or fleet-management product testing; MCP and AI coding client familiarity; AI agent testing tools; native packaging/signing; fault injection or combinatorial test generation.
