The QA-Core team ensures every engineering team at Upgrade can test software quickly and trust results. This Senior QA Automation Engineer role is a build-focused position, not traditional product QA. You will architect and build test automation infrastructure, tooling, and agentic solutions to increase engineering productivity across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and own automation frameworks for functional and performance testing
- Build AI agents to automate existing QA/testing workflows and reduce engineering friction
- Develop applications and services that automation depends on, deploy them to production, and operate them
- Take prototypes from concept through hardening, monitoring, and maturity
- Identify gaps in existing frameworks and tools, then iterate toward solutions
You will work closely with product teams to understand automation requirements, design services from scratch, ship to production clusters, and own them end-to-end.
Required experience:
- 5-7+ years building production software with depth in test infrastructure, test frameworks, developer tooling, and platform engineering
- Proven track record building agentic solutions and test automation frameworks from the ground up
- Daily fluency with agentic coding tools (orchestrating multiple agents, reviewing agent-generated PRs)
- Hands-on experience with microservices, Kubernetes, and deployment lifecycle management
- Ability to take ambiguous problems to scoped, defensible solutions independently
