You will design and build a Python-based platform layer that acts as a bridge and execution environment for high-load, business-critical workflows that cannot be efficiently handled inside the core system. This is not a standalone backend—it's a strategic architectural component that decouples complexity, enables scalable business logic execution, and provides reliable inter-service communication.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build the Python platform layer integrating with the core system
- Define patterns for service communication, orchestration, and responsibility split between core and Python services
- Develop scalable, async services handling high-load and latency-sensitive workflows
- Own API contracts between systems, ensuring stability, backward compatibility, and clear boundaries
- Extract functionality from core into scalable services where it improves performance or maintainability
- Ensure reliability through observability (monitoring, logging, tracing)
- Design for failure: retries, idempotency, consistency guarantees
- Drive engineering quality: testing strategy, CI/CD, safe rollout practices
- Collaborate with Platform and Product teams to align architecture with business needs
- Contribute to long-term platform scalability
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years commercial Python development in production environments
- Strong expertise in modern Python frameworks (FastAPI preferred; Django/Flask acceptable)
- Solid API design and integration experience (including third-party services)
- Strong async programming and concurrency knowledge (AsyncIO, non-blocking I/O)
- PostgreSQL and large dataset experience
- High-load backend system design and maintenance
- Strong testing practices (unit and integration tests; PyTest preferred)
- CI/CD pipelines and Docker experience
- Strong ownership and product mindset
Desirable: queue systems and load management, infrastructure skills, third-party API integration, NoSQL and analytical systems, advanced database work (replication, partitioning, sharding, PL/pgSQL).
