Relativity Space is building rockets to serve today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. The Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting growing demand for launch capacity. The Stage Fluids team designs and delivers propellant, pressurant, pneumatics, and other fluid systems that turn structures into functioning rockets. The team maintains full ownership across design, production, test, and flight, with a holistic view of Terran R focused on integrated functionality rather than isolated parts.
As Senior Propulsion Engineer for Valves, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, development, and qualification of flow control devices for the Aeon R engine and Terran R launch vehicle. Key responsibilities include: designing and analyzing clean-sheet cryogenic, pneumatic, proportional, and solenoid valves; conducting detailed fluid, thermal, and structural analysis of piece parts and assemblies; developing and executing qualification test planning for internally developed valves; providing engine and vehicle test support for existing flow control products; and conducting trade studies to produce architectures and designs that satisfy system requirements.
You will work on-site at the factory, never far from hardware, enabling rapid iteration and tight feedback loops between design and manufacturing. You won't simply execute handed-down requirements; you'll be expected to ask the right questions, collaborate across the company, and find the best solutions for Terran R. This is a role where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level—you'll solve problems that haven't been solved before and see your work come to life in record time.
