Relativity Space is building rockets to serve today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. The Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting growing demand for launch capacity. The Propulsion team develops and delivers highly performant, manufacturable engines for Terran R, with engineers responsible for the entire lifecycle of their parts from initial design through production, qualification, and flight. In this Senior Propulsion Engineer role, you will drive engine system architecture and concept-of-operations trades, manage engine interfaces, and negotiate requirements to optimize for the vehicle. You'll support engine system development overall, which may include engine system analysis and simulation, engine testing, tool development, and related work depending on your skillset and team needs. You will be expected to bring deep technical acumen to system-level problems, not just coordinate and facilitate amongst technical teams. You should be capable of leading collaborative projects to completion with minimal oversight, acting as a self-starter who continuously seeks to improve and learn about interfacing systems. The role requires approximately 15% travel to test and launch sites and may occasionally require shifted schedules or weekend work for critical milestones. You should have experience applying engineering fundamentals in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, clear evidence of ownership and problem-solving skills from school or work, and demonstrated drive to deliver on ambitious schedules using unconventional and creative solutions when necessary. A Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, technology, or mathematics is required.
