Voyager Technologies is seeking a Senior Propulsion Engineer to join their Mojave office and contribute to the development of advanced propulsion systems for sub-orbital vertical takeoff and landing (VTVL) vehicles. This is a hands-on technical role where you will work across the full lifecycle of rocket propulsion systems—from initial component and system sizing through design, analysis, fabrication, and test. You will collaborate with a joint propulsion team spanning Mojave and Pittsburgh offices, reporting to the Propulsion Lead. Key responsibilities include designing and analyzing rocket propulsion systems using cryogenic propellants (liquid methane and liquid oxygen), sizing critical components such as combustion devices, valves, propellant feed lines, turbomachinery, tanks, and pressurization systems. You will develop and run propulsion system fluid-thermal models to predict component and system behavior, perform trade studies to guide design decisions, and lead the creation of hardware drawings and component specifications for manufacturing and vendor interactions. You will develop and execute test plans for component and system testing, post-process results, and contribute to technical readiness and safety reviews. Additional responsibilities include performing risk assessment and mitigation planning, and writing and presenting technical reports. Required qualifications include a B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 6+ years of relevant experience in rocket propulsion system development. You must have hands-on experience with cryogenic propellants and designing high-pressure fluid and pneumatic systems, with proven capability to develop conceptual designs, perform trade studies, and select design baselines. Desired qualifications include an M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, experience with various cryogenic propulsion systems and engine cycles, proficiency in Computational Fluid Dynamics (ANSYS Fluent/CFX), experience with additive manufacturing in engine design, and expertise in fluid/thermal software (GFSSP, RTE, RPA) and system-level modeling tools (Amesim, Thermal Desktop). CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred), analytical programming skills (Python, C/C++, MATLAB, Fortran), hands-on fabrication experience, and familiarity with rocket turbopumps, pressure vessel design, and hypergolic liquid bipropellant systems are also valued.
