Salary: USD 166,000 - 220,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Propulsion Engineer to join the Air Dominance & Strike Propulsion Integration team, responsible for designing and integrating advanced hardware for Group 5 unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) and missile platforms. You will own the full development lifecycle from concept generation through integration and flight test, ensuring high-performance, resilient, and scalable mechanical systems for contested environments.
Key responsibilities include serving as a lead or key contributor in the selection, architecting, and integration of aircraft engines, engine components, and engine controls on UAVs. You will design, fabricate, and test prototype components and control systems, plan and execute propulsion system tests with full instrumentation, and coordinate with engine vendors to develop strategic partnerships. You'll be a critical member of the team supporting CAD design for inlet/exhaust shaping, surfaces, and structures, and will lead or support hardware demonstrations with customers as needed. Travel to test sites is required.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering, with 8+ years of propulsion engineering experience on air vehicles (manned or unmanned). You must have hands-on experience with jet engines in the 250-20,000 lbf thrust class, strong understanding of jet engine fundamentals and thermodynamic cycles, and proven experience designing complex mechanical parts and structural components using 3D CAD. Exposure to engine or powertrain component testing, familiarity with manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, injection molding), and eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance are required.
Preferred qualifications include experience with NX/Teamcenter, Python, MATLAB, and IADs; hands-on jet engine testing experience; previous work at a jet engine OEM or supplier; knowledge of FADEC and Engine Management Systems; and experience procuring parts and working in machine shops. An active U.S. Top Secret security clearance is preferred.
