Impulse is seeking a Senior Propulsion Development Engineer to own all aspects of in-house propulsion system design, analysis, implementation, and operation. You will work with a fast-paced, agile team developing high-performance spacecraft from clean sheet designs, building on the successful Mira spacecraft program. The role focuses on storable liquid bipropellant thrusters and subsystems for on-orbit and lander applications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own all aspects of bipropellant thruster and subsystem development
- Conduct analysis and testing to validate hardware performance and function
- Prepare, plan, and execute tests including engine hotfire testing
- Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to deliver reliable, high-performance, integrated systems
- Resolve technical issues with innovative, resourceful solutions
- Lead technical projects and mentor small teams of engineers
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or science
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in aerospace propulsion
- Prior hands-on experience with bipropellant rocket engines, including hardware and combustion device testing
- Strong proficiency in fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and materials
- Ability to perform system trades across thermal-fluids analysis and materials selection
- Hands-on experience with fluid, mechanical, electrical, and controls systems
- Demonstrated project ownership and collaborative team skills
