Impulse is seeking a Senior Propulsion Development Engineer (Fluids) to own all aspects of in-house propulsion system design, analysis, implementation, and operation. You will work with a fast-paced, agile team developing high-performance spacecraft from clean sheet designs, building on the successful Mira spacecraft program. The role focuses on new propulsion systems for on-orbit and lander applications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own all aspects of storable liquid propellant system development
- Architect and layout fluids systems on high delta-V, storable propellant propulsion systems
- Conduct analysis and testing to ensure hardware performance meets design intent
- Prepare, plan, and execute tests including propellant and pressurization system testing
- Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to deliver reliable, high-performance, integrated systems
- Resolve technical issues with innovative, resourceful solutions
- Lead technical projects and mentor small teams of engineers
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or science
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in aerospace propulsion
- Prior hands-on experience with liquid rocket propulsion systems, including hardware and test experience with flow control systems
- Proficiency in fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and materials principles
- Ability to perform system trades from thermal-fluids analyses to materials selection
- Hands-on experience with fluid, mechanical, electrical, and controls systems
- Demonstrated project ownership and collaborative team skills
