Impulse is seeking an experienced Senior Propulsion Design Engineer to lead the development of Deneb, a ~15,000 lb thrust, ox-rich combustion engine designed for Helios, a high-energy kick stage. This vehicle will deliver satellites and payloads to high-energy orbits, the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
In this role, you will own all aspects of the propulsion system and engine components from concept through product realization. You'll work within a fast-paced, agile team environment on critical aerospace hardware.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own all aspects of engine design from concept to product realization
- Design propulsion engine components and system layout
- Generate detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings
- Perform fluid, thermal, and structural analysis as required
- Work with internal and external partners to procure materials, fabricate parts, and complete assemblies
- Resolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutions
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience with flight propulsion components, including high-pressure and high-performance applications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working with fluid, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Proficiency in creating engineering drawings and 3D CAD models with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Demonstrated ability in requirements definition, conceptual design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, and testing of hardware
