As a Senior Propulsion Component Engineer (Fluids) at Impulse, you will own the complete lifecycle of propulsion system component design—from initial concept through product realization. You'll work within a fast-paced, agile team developing high-performance spacecraft from clean sheet design. Key responsibilities include: • Design propulsion system valves and fluid components for cryogenic, high-pressure, and high-temperature environments • Own all aspects of component design from conceptual phase to manufacturing and deployment • Generate detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings to specification • Perform fluid dynamics, thermal, and structural analysis as needed to validate designs • Establish assembly procedures and work hands-on with technicians to refine manufacturing processes • Define and support rigorous component development and qualification testing protocols • Troubleshoot technical challenges with innovative, resourceful solutions Required qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in valve or component design • Strong understanding of component design principles: materials selection, compatibility, seals, wear analysis, and force/torque margin determination • Hands-on experience with fluid, electrical, and mechanical systems • Proficiency in CAD software with ability to quickly learn new tools • Demonstrated ability across the full hardware lifecycle: requirements definition, conceptual design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, and testing This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment and wants to contribute to cutting-edge aerospace propulsion technology.
