Salary: USD 160,000 - 200,000 / annual
Temporal is an open-source programming model that simplifies code, improves application reliability, and helps developers ship features faster. As a Senior Professional Services Engineer, you will partner directly with customers and partners to move from design to production-ready Temporal implementations quickly and safely.
You will own the full delivery lifecycle: co-building initial workflows with customer engineering teams, implementing production-safe patterns (retries, timeouts, heartbeats, determinism, versioning), and helping customers deploy and operate Temporal Server in both cloud and self-hosted environments. You'll define worker deployment strategies, scaling guardrails, upgrade paths, and failure handling approaches tailored to each customer's needs.
A key part of your impact is establishing observability and reliability standards—designing metrics, alerts, and dashboards for workflows, workers, and Temporal Server. You'll create repeatable runbooks, templates, examples, and documentation that improve delivery quality across all engagements, and lead hands-on workshops to enable customer teams to operate independently.
You'll own complex technical delivery issues end-to-end, partnering with Support and Platform Architects to reduce escalations to Engineering. You'll also provide actionable product and engineering feedback based on real-world implementation patterns and failure modes, directly influencing Temporal's roadmap.
You bring production systems experience where reliability and incident response matter, strong understanding of distributed systems and operational safety, and hands-on coding ability in Go, Java, Python, or TypeScript. You're comfortable deploying and operating services in cloud and self-hosted environments, designing operational standards, and working directly with customers in high-stakes moments. You're a strong debugger, teacher, and communicator who can navigate ambiguity and messy real-world constraints.
