GitLab is seeking a Senior Professional Services Engineer to deliver complex infrastructure and platform implementations for federal government customers in highly regulated environments. This role focuses on deploying GitLab in FedRAMP-authorized cloud environments, Department of Defense Impact Level 4 and 5 enclaves, and fully air-gapped networks.
You will own end-to-end delivery workstreams on federal engagements, including GitLab installation, configuration, and upgrades in classified and disconnected environments. Key responsibilities include deploying reference architectures (Geo, high-availability, Kubernetes-based), completing offline installations using package mirroring and dependency staging, and configuring GitLab against federal security baselines including DISA STIG hardening, FIPS-compliant deployments, and PIV/CAC authentication.
You will lead migrations from legacy version control systems (Bitbucket, GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins) to GitLab Self-Managed or GitLab Dedicated for Government. As the primary technical contact for agency engineering and security teams, you'll conduct workshops, translate compliance requirements into configurations, and identify gaps where GitLab doesn't yet meet controls. You'll document implementations, create reusable runbooks, flag risks early, and support junior engineers.
Required qualifications include an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance and ability to work in the DC Metro area. You need hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, Chef), government cloud regions (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, Google Assured Workloads), and GitLab administration including CI/CD, container registry, and Premium/Ultimate features. Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes is essential. You should have delivery experience in regulated environments (federal, DoD, financial services, healthcare) and familiarity with compliance frameworks like FedRAMP, NIST 800-53/800-171, CMMC, and DISA STIGs.
