Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Professional Services Engineer to deliver advisory and hands-on implementation services for enterprise customers. You will be an individual contributor in the post-sales landscape, responsible for technical execution and customer guidance to maximize value from Cloudflare investments.
Key responsibilities include planning and delivering timely services for customers, gathering business and technical requirements, and building comprehensive solution designs (HLDs, LLDs, data builds, procedures, scripts, test plans, deployment and migration plans). You will implement changes in the Cloudflare environment following customer change management processes, provide configuration guidance for CPEs and integration points, and troubleshoot implementation issues in collaboration with Customer Support and Engineering teams.
You will contribute to organizational success through knowledge sharing, internal and external documentation, technical Q&A, and help iterate on best practices. You'll support building operational assets including templates, automation scripts, procedures, and workflows.
The role focuses on Layer 7 products including DDoS Protection, WAF, API Gateway, Bot Management, Certificates Manager, Rate Limiting, SSL, and Page Shield. You'll work Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM, with occasional weekend support for customer changes outside business hours. Travel is expected at approximately 30%.
Required experience includes 5+ years in customer-facing technical roles (Customer Engineer, Security Engineer, Implementation Engineer, Solutions Architect, or similar). You should have deep knowledge of OSI model layers and protocols (TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, HTTP), Internet and security technologies (DDoS, WAF, certificates, DNS, CDN), and demonstrated scripting experience (Python, JavaScript, Bash). Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, security aspects (firewalls, WAFs, bot management, mTLS), and performance optimization (caching, HTTP/2, TLSv1.3) is valued. Strong project management, deadline management, and ability to handle uncertainty are essential.
