Crusoe is building vertically integrated AI infrastructure, owning the full stack from energy generation to cloud services. As a Senior Production Engineer focused on Compute, you'll be the backbone of their sustainable, AI-first cloud infrastructure. You'll develop automation and observability tools to monitor compute infrastructure across kernel, hypervisor, and orchestration layers. Key responsibilities include supporting and scaling Crusoe's virtualization stack (KVM, QEMU, hypervisors), collaborating with Linux kernel and hardware teams to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, and optimizing hardware offloads. You'll focus on performance optimization for AI and HPC workloads across CPU, GPU, and DPU/NIC resources. The role involves participating in root cause analysis for kernel crashes and hardware-software integration issues, tuning kernel subsystems (process scheduler, NUMA, memory management, interrupt handling), and working with platform teams to implement support for emerging compute hardware like SmartNICs, BlueField devices, and TPUs. You'll need 5+ years in Compute SRE, Linux system engineering, or compute infrastructure roles. Required skills include strong Linux kernel internals knowledge (scheduler, memory allocation, drivers), virtualization experience (KVM, Xen, QEMU, VMware), familiarity with SmartNICs/DPUs and kernel bypass techniques, and expert-level proficiency in Go, C, or Rust. System-level debugging experience (kdump, kexec, kernel panic analysis) and Infrastructure as Code/CI/CD proficiency are essential. Bonus experience includes custom Linux distribution/kernel porting, AI model infrastructure knowledge, and open-source contributions to Linux kernel or KVM projects.
