Etched is building custom hardware and software infrastructure for frontier AI inference. This Senior Manufacturing Software Engineer role is embedded within Manufacturing Test Engineering, responsible for designing and building the software platform that powers manufacturing test across new product introduction and mass production. You will own the full stack of manufacturing software: backend services, APIs, and data pipelines that support factory operations; release management, deployment, versioning, and traceability systems; scalable data platforms for test results, yield analysis, genealogy, and production reporting; and reusable test station applications and automation frameworks. Key responsibilities include designing scalable APIs and databases for manufacturing data; integrating with MES, SFIS, and other factory systems used by contract manufacturers; partnering with Manufacturing Test, Hardware, Firmware, Software, Quality, and NPI teams; productionizing prototype tools into production-ready systems; and traveling to domestic and international manufacturing partners to support factory bring-up and production deployments. Required qualifications: 6+ years building production software, backend services, or data platforms; strong Python development (or Go, Java, C#, TypeScript with Python); solid software engineering fundamentals (testing, CI/CD, version control, code review, debugging, monitoring); experience designing scalable APIs, databases, and distributed systems; experience integrating with external systems and building reliable production services; experience with internal applications, dashboards, or operator-facing software; comfort owning technical architecture and building greenfield platforms; Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent; willingness to work onsite in San Jose and travel internationally. Nice-to-have: manufacturing software, factory automation, MES/SFIS experience; manufacturing test software or automated test infrastructure; yield analysis or traceability systems; firmware release tooling; experience with AI servers, accelerators, or high-performance compute; supporting first-generation hardware through manufacturing scale-up in a startup.
