Oura is seeking a Senior Product Quality Engineer, Electrical to lead Early Field Failure Analysis (EFFA) and electrical quality for the Oura Ring, a wearable health device used by over 3 million people globally. The role focuses on understanding why electrical failures occur in the field, confirming failure mechanisms, and driving design, process, supplier, and test improvements to prevent recurrence. Key responsibilities include: - Own the complete EFFA workflow for electrical issues: intake of returned units, evidence review, technical disposition, mechanism confirmation, and closure - Lead field quality and safety investigations for battery, charging, and power-related issues, including risk assessment and containment decisions - Conduct non-destructive analysis using diagnostic tools (DMM, oscilloscope, thermal imaging, X-ray/CT, micro-probing) to isolate failures to component, material, or process level - Build comprehensive serial-level evidence packages combining product configuration, hardware/firmware revisions, manufacturing genealogy, factory test history, telemetry, and member-reported symptoms - Analyze field and factory data to identify commonality patterns across manufacturing sites, build lots, suppliers, components, ring sizes, revisions, geography, and diagnostic signatures - Direct corrective actions with contract manufacturers and suppliers, including factory containment, process updates, inspection/test coverage, and design changes - Verify corrective action effectiveness using field, factory, and reliability data before closure - Feed confirmed findings into new product introduction (NPI) programs through design reviews, DFMEA updates, component selection, test coverage definition, and reliability planning - Partner with Data and Software teams on data ingestion, SQL/Python analysis, dashboards, and triage logic to convert mechanisms into leading indicators - Establish failure analysis methods, SOPs, equipment requirements, and reporting templates across Oura's regional labs and contract manufacturer partners This role requires strong electrical engineering fundamentals, hands-on failure analysis capability, practical data analysis skills, and the ability to work across bench, data, and factory floor environments. The position is hybrid based in San Francisco with a three-day per-week in-office requirement.
