Tabs is an AI Operating System for Revenue, built for modern finance and accounting teams. The company combines deep revenue and accounting expertise with AI agents and applications to help finance teams automate revenue workflows end-to-end while maintaining audit defensibility and human oversight. You will own the Revenue product at Tabs, specifically the revenue recognition engine that converts performance obligations and usage data into recognized revenue that finance teams can close the month on and auditors can sign off on. This is a core technical product requiring deep accounting expertise combined with software product thinking. Key responsibilities include: - Own the revenue recognition engine across all methods (straightlined, point-in-time, usage-based, milestone), ensuring performance obligations correctly convert into revenue schedules - Manage how contract changes (amendments, renewals, terminations) flow through to revenue schedules, including re-allocation and restatements - Drive ASC 606 compliance by owning transaction price allocation across bundled performance obligations (SSP), variable consideration, and contract modification accounting - Stay current on evolving accounting guidance and audit standards, translating them into product direction - Define audit trail standards so external auditors can verify any revenue number directly - Build toward segregated permissions and approval workflows (RBAC) for revenue and journal entry changes - Partner on AI-powered tooling that flags anomalies before close, explains changes, and recommends recognition treatment You will report to the Director of Product and work daily with engineering, Solutions, and the finance teams who use Tabs. The company operates in two-week sprints with weekly ship goals and short feedback cycles, built around intra-month product releases. Culture is in-office with emphasis on getting in front of customers, using data and feedback to drive decisions, and maintaining a collaborative environment. Requirements: - Background as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Revenue Accountant, or Technical Accounting Manager with hands-on technical accounting experience applying ASC 606 to real transactions - 5+ years of relevant experience with a track record of building software—you've worked hands-on with engineers to scope, prioritize, and ship features or systems - Deep, practical ASC 606 fluency; comfortable reasoning through transaction price allocation, variable consideration, and contract modification accounting directly, not just conceptually - Ability to translate complex accounting frameworks into product requirements and data models engineers can build against - Highly analytical and data-driven; comfortable making decisions based on metrics and qualitative insight - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly with Solutions teams and executive stakeholders Strong plus: - Active or inactive CPA - Experience in high-growth B2B SaaS environments - Experience with SOX controls or RBAC design
