Salary: USD 166,000 - 249,500 / annual
Pilot is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the Firm Experience for Meridian, an AI operating system for accounting firms. Meridian automates the month-end close across a firm's entire client portfolio, allowing accountants to review finished books before delivery to clients. This role focuses on everything accounting firm teams see and do in Meridian post-launch, including the firm dashboard, close checklist, review layer, and Meridian AI (an accounting super agent for ad-hoc work outside the standard close).
You will be the second PM on Meridian, partnering with the PM who owns activation (kickoff through first close). You inherit a dedicated engineering and design team, an active roadmap, and firms actively using the product monthly. The role expands as Meridian evolves beyond month-end close to become the central platform for running an accounting practice.
Key responsibilities include: owning the Firm Experience roadmap across Prepare, Close, and Review & Deliver phases; building a review layer that shows accountants what the AI did and the reasoning behind decisions, with clear flagging of exceptions requiring human review; expanding Meridian AI capabilities and firm-level customization (preferences and client-level overrides); extending Meridian beyond close to include firm-to-colleague and firm-to-client collaboration features (document management, client communications, client portal, request tracking, email management, delivery of finished books); serving as the voice of accounting firms by learning the Practice Management space and spending time with partners, CPAs, and bookkeepers; and supporting sales and expansion by equipping go-to-market teams and designing features that bring more of a firm's portfolio onto Meridian.
Success metrics include: increasing the number of clients an accountant can confidently oversee; reducing review and approval time; increasing the percentage of closes managed by agents without human intervention; and making Meridian the system firms use to understand their entire book of business.
Pilot has closed 199K months of books for 8,000+ businesses since 2017, pairing expert accountants with proprietary software. Meridian brings this platform to accounting firms, sitting on top of existing ledgers (QuickBooks Online and Xero) with no migration or lock-in. Pilot has 3,000+ customers, raised $170M+ from Sequoia, Index Ventures, Stripe, Bezos Expeditions, and Whale Rock, and recently achieved unicorn status at $1.2B valuation.
Requirements:
- 4+ years as a Product Manager owning a product line or major product area, with demonstrated track record of shipping features that moved customer or business outcomes
- B2B SaaS experience, ideally with workflow products used by teams
- Strong product and design judgment for complex, information-dense interfaces
- Comfort in customer-facing and sales settings; ability to earn credibility with firm partners
- Clear writing and ability to turn ambiguous feedback into crisp requirements
- Fluency with AI tools in your own work and genuine curiosity about agent-driven products
Strongly preferred: working knowledge of accounting or bookkeeping, either from building products for accountants or from professional experience (public accounting, bookkeeping, controller role, or similar).
Bonus: experience with Practice Management or client collaboration products (Karbon, Canopy, TaxDome); productizing internal tools; shipping AI or agentic features; deep familiarity with QuickBooks Online or Xero; founder or operator experience.
