9fin is an AI platform powering global debt markets, serving 300+ blue-chip institutions including global banks, asset managers, private equity firms, law firms, and advisors. The company has built one of the most comprehensive datasets in credit and debt markets: news, financials, cap tables, instrument data, legal documents, and ESG analysis. Currently, most clients access 9fin's data through the web application. However, a large and growing segment of the market wants to consume this data programmatically to power firm-level workflows at scale—quant desks, data engineering teams, systematic investors, risk and compliance functions. At comparable financial data providers, this distribution channel represents 20-30% of total revenue. 9fin is at the beginning of this journey. You will lead the 0-to-1 build of 9fin's external data distribution strategy. This is a product strategy and execution role spanning API design, data catalogue decisions, developer experience, commercial modeling, and cross-functional coordination. Key responsibilities include: **Product Strategy & Execution:** Define the product vision and strategy for external data distribution (APIs, data shares, cloud sync). Own data catalogue decisions—which datasets to expose, in what format, through which channels, and in what order. Design the developer experience end-to-end: API design, documentation, developer portal, sandbox, error handling, rate limiting, and versioning. Work with analytics engineering and domain teams to define schemas and data models. Use a partner model to validate early with 1-2 clients during development. Shape the commercial model: packaging, tiering, usage-based pricing, distribution controls, and entitlements. **Data Quality, Infrastructure & Compliance:** Partner with the Head of Analytics to ensure data products meet reliability, freshness, and accuracy standards. Define SLAs for data delivery (latency, uptime, completeness) and build monitoring infrastructure. Own the entitlements and access control layer. Work with Legal to define data usage policies, including restrictions on redistribution, AI training, and onward use. Establish feedback loops between API consumers and domain teams. **Cross-Functional Leadership & GTM:** Coordinate across platform engineering, analytics engineering, domain squads, and the Head of Analytics without a dedicated squad. Influence teams you do not manage. Support the shift to solution-selling GTM: work with Sales and Customer Success on partner selection, POC design, technical onboarding, and commercial structuring. Engage directly with enterprise clients during pilots and integrations. Communicate strategy, progress, and trade-offs transparently. Translate technical concepts into language non-technical stakeholders can act on. **Requirements:** - 5+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years building API products, data platforms, or data distribution products at a B2B company - Experience designing APIs for external consumers: schema design, versioning strategies, rate limiting, and developer documentation - Track record of shipping data products with full lifecycle ownership: defining what data to expose, schema design, commercial packaging, and client onboarding - Understanding of data infrastructure concepts: data pipelines, warehouses, ETL/ELT, data modelling, and platforms like Snowflake - Comfortable with SQL and Python; capable of interrogating data to validate quality and understand usage patterns - Experience working in solution-selling or partner-led GTM models: POCs, pilots, or co-development with enterprise clients - Proven ability to lead cross-functionally without a dedicated team through influence, not authority - Strong commercial instinct: understanding how enterprise data buyers evaluate providers - Clear communicator who can translate between technical and commercial audiences **Nice to have:** - Familiarity with credit markets, debt instruments, or how buy-side/sell-side firms consume financial data - Experience with Snowflake data sharing, marketplace listings, or similar cloud data distribution mechanisms - Experience building entitlements, licensing, or access control systems for data products - Understanding of data licensing, redistribution terms, or AI usage policies in enterprise data products
