In this Senior Product Engineer role, you will build and ship features that address the emerging challenge of AI-native software reliability. As AI agents and coding assistants ship software faster than teams can review by hand, traditional reliability approaches break down. You'll work on solving real developer pain points: flaky tests, unclear failures, and noisy alerts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build and ship with AI: You will actively use coding agents (Codex, Claude, or similar) for full-stack development across the entire lifecycle—from exploring solutions and generating scaffolding to refactoring, test generation, and debugging.
- Talk to users: You will engage directly with developers, DevOps, and SRE teams who are on-call, debugging incidents, or integrating Checkly into production pipelines. You'll understand their workflows and pain points, validate ideas through customer conversations, and iterate based on real feedback. Customer calls and weekly support rotation are core responsibilities.
- Find the right problems: You will focus on pragmatic solutions that ship quickly, validate assumptions in production, and compound into long-term reliability improvements.
- Own end-to-end: From shaping ideas through implementation, rollout, and production monitoring. You will participate in on-call and support customers when issues arise.
The tech stack includes AI tools, Vue.js, TypeScript, Node.js, Golang, Postgres, ClickHouse, and AWS. The company ships to production daily, practices Agile (not scrum), and emphasizes good documentation and product design. The culture is remote-first, async-first (low meetings, high productivity), and lean—there is no separate QA team or ops layer; engineers own the full lifecycle including support rotation and on-call duties.
Requirements:
- You have shipped features with AI in production, not just experimented. You have taken work from zero to shipped with a comparable stack, made implementation decisions that held up, and put things in front of real users.
- You have built and run production software. You understand the realities of operating software people depend on: edge cases, incidents, regressions, observability, and follow-up. You are not surprised when things break and help fix them.
- You can hold a product conversation, not just a technical one. You can assess whether a proposed solution actually solves a customer problem.
- You work well autonomously in a remote setup and are self-motivated. You enjoy getting to know colleagues and helping others get unstuck.
- You must be fully remote within UTC-3 to UTC+3 time zones and able to travel to European countries without visa restrictions for annual kickoffs, team meetups, or conferences.
- You must be comfortable with AI-first culture. AI skepticism is not compatible with this role—you will use AI for everything, every day.
