Vizcom is an AI design tool for industrial and product designers, enabling teams at companies like GM, Dior, HOKA, EA, and Roche to go from sketch to render, 3D model, and video in one unified platform. The company is Series B with 300+ enterprise customers and is expanding its product roadmap to include review, feedback, and collaboration features that keep work in Vizcom rather than scattered across Miro, Slack, and other tools. In this role, you'll own significant end-to-end product features, from scoping with design through frontend and API development, shipping, and monitoring real-world usage. You'll report to the engineering manager and collaborate daily with product, design, AI, and backend engineers. Key responsibilities include: - Optimizing workbench performance, addressing the primary user complaint of sluggishness in large files and long sessions by profiling frame time, memory, and texture decode paths. - Building pro-grade 2D tools (brush engine, layer masks, selections, transform, warp) that rival Photoshop and Procreate. - Developing an agent-first canvas UI for create → review → present workflows, integrating AI agents that can see and act on the entire workbench. - Implementing projects and collaboration features including real-time multiplayer, comments, review, and enterprise-grade roles and permissions. - Integrating 3D in the browser using Three.js/WebGL as first-class canvas elements for generation inputs and review. - Owning quality through E2E tests, instrumentation, and production support (on-call rotation). The tech stack includes TypeScript, React, Vite, and WebGL/Three.js on the frontend; Node, GraphQL (PostGraphile), Postgres, Redis, and BullMQ on the backend; and Kubernetes, Pulumi, Datadog, Statsig, and GitHub Actions for infrastructure. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years shipping complex frontend applications in React and TypeScript, specifically those with deep state management and rich interaction patterns (not CRUD dashboards). - Real hands-on experience with Canvas, WebGL/WebGPU, or custom rendering engines; demonstrated ability to profile and optimize frame rates. - Comfortable working across the full stack: designing GraphQL schemas, writing Postgres migrations, and shipping features independently. - Strong product taste and judgment; ability to challenge specs, prototype alternatives, and identify the best solution. - Heavy user of AI coding tools while maintaining ownership and verification of all code. - Outcome-oriented mindset; ownership of problems rather than ticket completion. NICE TO HAVE: - Experience building creative tools (drawing, image editing, design, CAD, 3D). - CRDT or real-time multiplayer sync experience. - Three.js, WebAssembly, or GPU shader work. - Agent UI or LLM tool-calling experience. - Electron or desktop app development. - Personal sketching/design skills or close collaboration with industrial designers.
