Prolific is building the human data infrastructure that powers AI development. The company connects researchers and companies with a global pool of participants to collect high-quality, ethically sourced human behavioral data and feedback—the cornerstone of developing more accurate, nuanced, and aligned AI systems.
You will join a cross-functional, stream-aligned team as a Senior Product Engineer, working collaboratively with an engineering manager, product manager, designer, and 4-5 other engineers including a tech lead. As a 't-shaped' engineer, you bring broad practical knowledge across software development with deeper specialism in either front-end or back-end work.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and guide product direction using agile practices and a product mindset
- Work in a fast-paced environment with a bias for action, collaborating closely with customers to understand their needs
- Operate with a "You Build It, You Run It" mindset, maintaining intimate knowledge of products from code commit through production operation
- Support production systems using monitoring tools such as Datadog, ensuring stable systems observability
- Champion engineering principles, fuel a growth mindset through community involvement, and help improve engineering culture
- Push boundaries and question the status quo to ensure high value and impact for users
- Work across major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) using serverless and container-based architectures
Key technologies include Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Vue.js, Django Rest Framework, MongoDB, DynamoDB, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Celery, EventBridge, and Datadog.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep understanding of modern web applications
- Experience building TypeScript/JavaScript applications and using NoSQL databases
- Experience using Python
- Knowledge of Event-Driven Architecture
- Experience with AWS (Serverless) and/or GCP
- Understanding of test automation and code quality practices
- Demonstrated experience supporting applications in production with good observability practices (e.g., RUM, tracing)
- Experience working in collaborative environments with strong engineering practices
- Product lifecycle awareness and customer value focus
- Understanding of continuous, iterative improvement using data-driven decisions and feedback culture
- Passion for software development with appetite for learning and self-improvement
