Docker is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to shape and evolve the company's technical landscape. Docker is a globally distributed, remote-first organization trusted by 20+ million monthly users and serving as a foundational platform for containerized application development and deployment. The company is at the center of how AI agents are redefining software development, providing sandboxed environments, verified images, and secure infrastructure for autonomous workflows. In this role, you will define and drive the overarching technical vision for the platform, ensuring it meets current and future scalability, performance, and security requirements. You will design fault-tolerant, highly available systems that minimize downtime and deliver seamless user experience. Additionally, you will advocate for and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, CI/CD pipelines, and automation best practices. You will collaborate with security experts to ensure platform integrity and compliance with industry standards. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure technical initiatives support business objectives, and serve as an escalation point for critical system challenges. You will uphold coding standards through thorough code reviews and produce comprehensive technical documentation. Docker offers a remote-first work environment with offices in Seattle and Paris for optional collaboration. Benefits include generous PTO with quarterly Whaleness Days, home office support, a $100/month technology stipend, annual learning and development stipend, 16 weeks of paid parental leave, equity for all full-time employees, and comprehensive medical and retirement benefits.
