Grafana Labs is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to join the newly formed Metal squad within the Foundations group. This role is central to building and provisioning infrastructure resources—storage, networking, and Kubernetes clusters—on Grafana's own physical hardware to support the broader engineering organization.
You will own the full lifecycle of infrastructure code, from design through integration testing and operational feedback. Key responsibilities include managing the bare-metal-to-Kubernetes stack, designing and operating cluster networking (load balancing, NAT, DNS, CNIs, cross-cluster communication, routing protocols), managing scheduling and autoscaling, and maintaining Crossplane compositions and Terraform modules for infrastructure-as-code. You'll also work closely with Grafana Cloud application teams to understand their infrastructure needs and prioritize investments accordingly.
The role requires hands-on experience with distributed systems, datacenter operations, and on-call participation. You should be comfortable working holistically across the full stack—from low-level infrastructure concerns to developer experience. The team primarily uses Go, Python, and Shell.
