Join Deliveroo's Developer Platform group as a Senior Platform Engineer in London. This hybrid role focuses on building and evolving the core systems, tools, and environments that empower engineers across a global three-sided marketplace serving millions of customers, riders, and partners daily.
You'll own the developer experience for the primary monorepo, maintain the Bazel-based build ecosystem, evolve development environments for engineers and AI agents, and manage IDEs and agentic tooling. Your mission is to remove friction, improve iteration speed, and ensure a consistent, reliable experience across every stage of the software development lifecycle.
In this role, you'll act as a project owner who translates customer problems into well-scoped sub-problems for yourself and peers. You'll set a high bar for craftsmanship, reliability, and scalability, leading by example in execution. You'll manage moderate levels of ambiguity, make long-term versus short-term trade-offs, and design high-quality, durable solutions. You'll take ownership of areas within your team's charter, identify gaps, and provide recommendations to cross-functional partners. You'll serve as a role model within your team, demonstrating empathy and mentoring peers.
You should bring strong software engineering expertise, preferably with Go and/or Python. Extensive experience with infrastructure tooling (ideally Terraform) and AWS cloud environments is essential. You'll have demonstrated ability to contribute to the direction of a technical domain in the platform space—such as container orchestration, Kafka, build systems, or observability. Experience building AI-assisted developer tools or integrating LLM-backed solutions is valued.
