Salary: USD 180,000 - 243,000 / annual
Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. The Container Services team owns and operates Adyen's core container orchestration infrastructure that underpins the global payment platform.
In this Senior Platform Engineer role, you will design, build, and operate critical infrastructure systems at scale. Key responsibilities include:
• Design and maintain container orchestration (Kubernetes) and supporting infrastructure across Adyen's global private cloud environment
• Develop automation tooling and workflows that improve provisioning, configuration management, and operational efficiency, enabling self-service capabilities for engineering teams
• Own availability and performance of critical platform systems, participate in on-call rotations, and drive incident response and postmortem processes
• Collaborate with platform engineers across Chicago and globally to operate 24/7 infrastructure across multiple regions and datacenters
• Contribute to architectural decisions, evaluate emerging technologies, and drive platform modernization initiatives including multi-region resilience and infrastructure standardization
You bring 7+ years of hands-on platform, infrastructure, or software engineering experience. You have advanced Linux system administration skills, including networking (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls) and security fundamentals. You're proficient with Kubernetes at scale, cluster operations, and troubleshooting. You have on-premises and bare-metal infrastructure experience, including hardware lifecycle and datacenter operations. You write production-quality code in Bash, Python, or Go. Experience with HashiCorp tools (Terraform, Consul, Vault), GitOps workflows (ArgoCD), configuration management (Ansible, Puppet), and load balancers is valued. Prior fintech or regulated-industry experience is a plus.
