webAI is building distributed AI infrastructure for personalized, privacy-preserving AI at the edge. The company's mission is to enable enterprises to deploy large-scale AI models on consumer hardware while keeping data and IP private. As Senior Platform Engineer, you will design and build the core software platform underlying webAI's enterprise and consumer products. You'll own the full lifecycle of platform capabilities—from architecture and implementation through testing, release, and production support. Your work spans systems architecture, backend development, CI/CD automation, API/SDK design, and developer experience. Key responsibilities include: - Design and implement reusable platform capabilities exposed through stable APIs and SDKs - Develop backend and systems software with emphasis on performance, security, maintainability, and reliability - Own complex features from design through release, including testing, packaging, and production support - Build and improve CI/CD pipelines for multi-platform builds, automated testing, artifact publishing, and releases - Establish practices for API evolution, versioning, compatibility, and migration - Write documentation, examples, and reference implementations - Diagnose performance, concurrency, reliability, and integration problems across complex systems - Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate product needs into reusable platform capabilities - Improve developer tooling and workflows as the platform ecosystem grows Required qualifications: - 5+ years of software engineering experience - Strong experience designing and maintaining APIs, SDKs, client libraries, or developer-facing platform interfaces - Strong systems-engineering skills (concurrency, process boundaries, resource management, failure modes, performance) - Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and release automation - Experience packaging, versioning, and distributing production software - Ability to write maintainable code, effective tests, clear technical documentation, and useful examples - Experience diagnosing complex integration, reliability, and performance problems - Proven ability to take complex or ambiguous requirements through design, implementation, and release - Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field Preferred qualifications include professional experience with Rust, distributed/peer-to-peer/edge systems, FFI and language bindings, cross-platform software development, semantic versioning and API migration strategies, developer tools and build tooling, and security-sensitive or privacy-preserving systems.
