Solace is a Series C healthcare startup (founded 2022, $1B valuation) that pairs patients with expert advocates and tools to navigate the complex U.S. healthcare system. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll join a lean, mission-driven team building the infrastructure powering Solace's platform. You'll enable product and data engineers to move aggressively with daily deployments, design autonomous self-healing systems, and troubleshoot complex failures spanning technology, governance, and people. Key responsibilities include: - Building and scaling cloud infrastructure and application platforms - Assessing risk and impact for production changes - Participating in on-call rotation - Designing autonomous recovery processes - Mentoring product and data engineers in your areas of expertise - Communicating with stakeholders and internal platform customers You're a generalist who thrives working independently and collaboratively, with deep curiosity about how systems work and fail. You have impeccable communication skills, absorb feedback well, and take ownership in fast-moving environments. Core competencies required: - Startup experience - Scalable infrastructure for web applications or data workloads - Deep troubleshooting across architectural layers - Linux command-line fluency - Cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure acceptable) - Networking fundamentals (VPCs, DNS, load balancers, TLS, CDNs) - Observability tools (Datadog, OpenTelemetry) Desired focus areas (one or more): - Site reliability and performance optimization - Kubernetes and container orchestration - Polyglot programming and code comprehension - DevOps and CI/CD systems - Developer product experience and tooling - Data infrastructure (warehouses, pipelines, replication) - Distributed systems design and troubleshooting - Healthcare industry security and compliance Must be based in the United States.
