Salary: GBP 95,000 - 130,000 / annual
Monzo is a fintech company on a mission to make money work for everyone, offering personal and business bank accounts, savings, investments, pensions, and credit products in the UK. The Platform Collective builds and maintains the infrastructure, tools, and processes that enable Monzo's technology teams to succeed.
The Infrastructure Platform team is responsible for running Monzo's Kubernetes clusters, service mesh, and networking that underpin all microservices. The team comprises backend engineers and cloud infrastructure experts who use software engineering skills to solve problems and manage cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP.
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will work across the full breadth of core infrastructure and application platform with a balanced split between two critical areas:
1. Platform & Infrastructure Engineering: Enhancing and maintaining foundational tools and systems. You'll work hands-on with Kubernetes clusters, AWS infrastructure, and configuration management using Terraform. You'll integrate and manage open-source technologies and contribute to the platform's evolution.
2. Developer Experience & Enablement: Helping other platform teams succeed by abstracting away complexity and enabling them to solve real customer problems. You'll design and implement abstractions that make cloud infrastructure accessible to product teams.
Monzo is investing heavily in this team to support growth from 10 to 20 million customers, expand product offerings, and establish foundations for global scaling. The role offers flexibility—while the main tech hub is in London, engineers work across the UK with no pressure to come into the office.
