GumGum is an advertising technology company powered by the Mindset Graph, an AI-driven data engine that matches brands with audiences in the right mindset. The company is building a next-generation, AI-powered software development platform to make spec-driven development the default workflow across engineering.
As Senior Platform Engineer, you will own the design and rollout of this platform end-to-end. This is a high-ownership, hands-on role where you'll evaluate the emerging landscape of AI SDLC frameworks (GitHub Spec Kit, OpenSpec, BMAD-METHOD), decide what GumGum adopts versus builds, and architect the complete solution from spec authoring through agent orchestration to validation gates.
Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluate and select AI SDLC / spec-driven development frameworks, making build-vs-buy decisions
- Architect the platform end-to-end, owning the roadmap from prototype to company-wide rollout
- Build tooling and services that make spec-driven development the default workflow for every engineering team
- Instrument the platform to track adoption, delivery velocity, and friction, using data to inform the roadmap
- Design for self-service so product managers and non-engineers can author and iterate on specs independently
- Partner closely with DevOps to integrate the platform into CI/CD, Kubernetes, and deployment infrastructure
- Collaborate with Machine Learning Engineering on model selection, context design, and agent guardrails
- Work with Security Engineering on authentication and auditability
- Drive org-wide adoption through documentation, training, and metrics that demonstrate 10x delivery gains
You'll sit at the center of DevOps, MLE, and Engineering leadership on the organization's highest-visibility initiative. The role requires 5+ years in platform engineering, developer experience, or related discipline, with direct hands-on experience building or driving adoption of development platforms. You should have working knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, and Python, strong communication skills, and a product mindset with the ability to drive buy-in across multiple technical teams. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience) is required.
GumGum fosters a flexible work environment with the ability to work remotely or from home, though occasional in-person collaboration at the Santa Monica office is expected.
