Astra is building mission-critical infrastructure for moving money at scale, processing billions in annual transaction volume with 99.9%+ uptime. The platform powers real-time transfers, bank debits, card disbursements, and complex financial compliance systems through APIs and automation tools. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll own core infrastructure and tooling that enables the entire engineering team to ship quickly and reliably. This is a hands-on role focused on building leverage for other engineers through infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD systems, environment provisioning, and observability. You'll work directly with product engineers rather than operating behind layers of process, making this ideal for someone energized by enabling others and comfortable owning meaningful infrastructure surface area in a regulated, real-money environment. Key responsibilities include: owning pieces of core platform infrastructure including Terraform migrations (VPC, IAM, networking), CI/CD pipelines, and environment provisioning; building and maintaining tooling and abstractions that let product engineers ship and run code independently; advancing observability foundations including service instrumentation and metrics collection; standardizing monitoring and alerting for business and financial operations; hardening CI/CD pipelines including secrets migration and self-service deployment tooling; supporting GCP infrastructure work including dead-letter queue handling and messaging system reliability; building compliance remediation tooling, local dev/onboarding tooling, and infrastructure documentation; and operating independently on production infrastructure changes. Required: 5+ years in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or backend engineering with significant infrastructure ownership; experience building or maturing internal developer tooling, CI/CD systems, or service platforms; startup or small-team environment experience with meaningful infrastructure ownership; direct production cloud infrastructure experience (GCP preferred, AWS or Azure relevant); strong track record partnering with product teams; comfort operating independently on production infrastructure; Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent; strong proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi); container orchestration experience (Kubernetes, ECS); solid backend engineering skills in production languages (Go, Python, TypeScript/Node); experience designing internal APIs and service abstractions; familiarity with observability tooling (Datadog, Grafana/Prometheus, OpenTelemetry); understanding of secrets management and secure infrastructure patterns. Preferred: fintech, payments, banking-as-a-service, or regulated industry experience; platform tooling experience supporting compliance requirements; GCP-specific experience and cross-cloud infrastructure work; database platform work experience; experience scaling internal platforms through rapid growth.
