Temporal Technologies is seeking a Senior Platform Architect to join the Technical Services team and drive customer success with Temporal, an open-source programming model that simplifies distributed systems development. You will be the accountable technical owner from purchase through stable production, transforming complex challenges into scalable, repeatable solutions.
You will own production readiness and activation for assigned customers, acting as the single point of accountability for scale-proof production deployments. This includes driving first production workflows, establishing guardrails for reliability and scaling, making developers and platform architects Temporal experts, setting up proactive alerting, and resolving the most difficult technical issues. You'll identify and remove activation blockers early and optimize costs and performance.
Beyond individual customer work, you'll run the technical program for your accounts by building KPI-driven success plans tied to production outcomes, defining standards for patterns and governance, and leading cross-functional coordination across Professional Services, Support, and internal teams. You'll proactively manage technical risk, migrations, and architectural debt.
You'll ensure long-term technical health by setting and validating reliability and observability standards, monitoring health signals, leading technical reviews and readiness checkpoints, and certifying teams as production-ready. You'll also drive adoption by surfacing growth signals, partnering with customers and sales teams to unlock new workloads, and translating production success into renewal and expansion narratives.
Required: 6+ years of professional software engineering or solutions engineering experience; strong understanding of distributed systems, workflow orchestration, and reliability engineering; proficiency in Go, Java, TypeScript, or Python; experience building and operating production systems at scale; ability to debug complex issues and guide customers; strong customer-facing and communication skills; experience creating technical documentation and training materials; self-motivation and cross-team collaboration; willingness to travel occasionally. Nice-to-haves include Temporal experience, observability tools expertise, professional services background, Kubernetes/cloud platform knowledge, open-source contributions, and technical training delivery experience.
