Echodyne is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical architecture, development, and lifecycle support of its accessory portfolio for advanced solid-state radar systems. The company specializes in compact, beam-steering radar technology for autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft, drones, and critical infrastructure security applications.
In this role, you will own the electrical architecture, derived requirements, and interfaces for assigned accessory products, ensuring compatibility across Echodyne radars, external equipment, power sources, computing platforms, and communications systems. You will define and drive electrical solutions from concept through detailed design, balancing performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, cost, quality, and schedule. This includes leading trade studies, managing dependencies, and making key technical decisions.
You will lead the technical execution of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), build-to-print, vendor co-development, and design-to-spec solutions. This involves defining specifications, interfaces, acceptance criteria, and deliverables; evaluating products and vendor capabilities; reviewing external designs and test evidence; and maintaining Echodyne's technical ownership of electrical solutions.
You will lead electrical integration, verification, qualification, and release readiness in partnership with functional owners, including EMI/EMC, electrical safety, reliability, environmental performance, interface verification, and controlled design documentation. You will support new product introduction, production, product revisions, and sustaining changes by resolving electrical, integration, manufacturing, quality, and field issues with cross-functional teams and external partners.
As a Principal-level contributor, you will provide technical leadership for accessory electrical development and lifecycle support, leading major technical reviews, guiding key design decisions, mentoring engineers, and advancing reusable architectures, standards, and development practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience defining electrical architecture, derived requirements, and interfaces for complex electronic or electromechanical products, including leading trade studies and balancing size, weight, and power (SWaP), performance, reliability, and cost
- Knowledge of power conversion and distribution, wired communications and networking, embedded computing platforms, connectors, cables and harnesses, grounding and bonding, electrical protection, and related integration hardware
- Ability to analyze and mitigate electrical design and integration risks involving wire sizing, voltage drop, shielding, crosstalk, EMI/EMC performance, thermal effects, connector selection, and system topology
- Eligibility to handle export-controlled technical data, including ITAR and EAR-controlled information (U.S. Citizen, green card holder, or asylum/refugee status in the U.S. required)
