Alumni Ventures is a venture capital platform with $1.4B+ in assets raised and investments in 1,600+ companies. The company operates a network of 850,000+ members and 40+ dedicated investors, connecting accredited individuals to high-quality venture deals through alumni-driven communities and diversified co-investment strategies. With offices in Boston, New York, Chicago, Menlo Park, Manchester NH, London, and Tokyo, Alumni Ventures is rapidly growing and committed to fueling entrepreneurial success. The Senior Partner role is critical to Alumni Ventures' growth, focused on converting prospective investors into first-time AV investors and establishing the foundation for long-term relationships. Reporting to the EVP of Nurture Marketing as part of the Investor Conversion Pillar, you will own inbound and warm prospect conversations from qualification through close. You will serve as an internal expert on high-quality investor calls, quickly understanding what brought each prospect to AV, what they want from venture exposure, and which AV offering best fits their goals. This is a solution-selling role, not a scripted sales role. Prospects come to AV with different motivations—from accessing compelling individual deals to building diversified venture exposure—and you will adapt the conversation accordingly. Depending on the investor, that could mean a syndicate deal, an Alumni Fund, a Focused Fund, or the Foundation Fund. Key responsibilities include: owning inbound and warm prospect calls end-to-end from qualification through close; prioritizing zero-to-one conversion to help net-new prospects make their first AV investment while establishing a strong foundation for the Relationship Management team; quickly identifying each prospect's motivations and adapting your approach in real time rather than relying on a fixed talk track; using active listening and thoughtful discovery to understand what an investor wants from venture exposure, then connecting those needs to the appropriate AV offering; listening for buying signals, hesitation, and objections, and adjusting the conversation to help prospects make informed decisions with confidence; communicating AV's "see the deal, then decide" approach; maintaining disciplined follow-through by accurately documenting call outcomes, prospect insights, and next steps in HubSpot and actively advancing your book of leads; partnering with Marketing and Nurture teams to share feedback on lead quality and help improve messaging and education; contributing to the continued development of Senior Partner coaching, call-quality standards, and performance practices; and using AI tools to strengthen prospect research and call preparation while applying sound judgment to every investor interaction. Alumni Ventures operates as a 5-day-a-week, in-office culture because collaboration, mentorship, and shared momentum matter. REQUIREMENTS: - 7+ years of experience in a closing sales role, ideally involving financial services, investment products, or another high-consideration, relationship-driven sale - Strong verbal communicator who can build trust, sustain engagement, and guide nuanced conversations effectively over the phone - Skilled at diagnosing what a prospect actually needs and matching your approach to different motivations, levels of investment experience, and buying signals - Comfortable adapting in real time when a conversation takes an unexpected direction rather than relying on a prescribed script - Ability to learn and speak credibly about venture capital, fund structures, and portfolio construction, or demonstrated ability to quickly develop fluency in complex products - Ability to maintain a high volume of prospect conversations without sacrificing call quality, accurate documentation, or follow-through - Comfortable receiving specific coaching based on call recordings and performance data and putting that feedback into practice - Experience using HubSpot or a comparable CRM for pipeline management, call documentation, and follow-up
