Carta Law, the AI-native law firm for private capital (formed from Avantia Law and Carta), is seeking a Senior Paralegal for its Contracts team in the APAC region. You'll join a high-volume operation managing the full lifecycle of commercial contracts for private capital clients—from intake and first-round markup through execution.
Reporting to a Supervising Lawyer, you'll work alongside fellow paralegals, lawyers, and embedded AI agents. The team leverages Carta's proprietary AI platform, Ava, to deliver pre-M&A contract work at speed while maintaining quality and commercial soundness.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning prompt intake and first-round markup of investment-related NDAs and related documents, ensuring tight client turnaround times
- Supporting UK lawyers with first-round drafting and ad hoc legal work, handling volume so attorneys can focus on complexity
- Setting up and coordinating client workflows, managing document portals, and driving contracts to execution
- Maintaining quality standards that reflect Carta's reputation for precision in private capital work

You combine legal grounding with commercial pragmatism—knowing when to flag issues and when to move forward. Your communication is crisp and concise; you take ownership, spot inefficiencies, and drive process improvements.

Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in transactional or corporate legal practice, or in-house commercial legal team
- Hands-on exposure to commercial contracts and investment-related NDA drafting
- Ability to work fast and precisely under pressure in high-volume environments
- Strong grasp of relevant legal concepts with commercial pragmatism in application
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter mentality with a builder's mindset; ability to identify and drive process improvements
- Familiarity with private markets, fund structures, or investor onboarding workflows (strong plus)
Desirable:
- Proficiency with AI-backed contract review tools (Carta Ava, CLM/e-signature systems)
- Ability to review and negotiate in Japanese, Korean, or Mandarin
