Amperesand is reinventing power infrastructure for a new era of energy abundance. The company develops intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products based on advanced medium voltage Solid State Transformer technology, designed to support AI factories, electric vehicles, and modern industrial growth.
As Senior Packaging Engineer, you will own the complete packaging design lifecycle for incoming components and subassemblies. Your primary responsibility is designing inbound part packaging optimized to protect components during domestic and international shipment while interfacing seamlessly with production line material handling systems.
Key responsibilities include:
• Deliver technical packaging designs optimized for component protection, weight reduction, durability, and manufacturing line integration
• Perform 3D modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), and durability analysis on concept packaging designs
• Design, source, build, and execute testing on prototype packaging solutions
• Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards (ISTA, ASTM, etc.)
• Deliver finished 3D/2D drawings and engineering specifications for supplier bidding and compliance documentation
• Participate in packaging and component supplier evaluation and selection
• Partner with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, material handling, NPI, and program management to develop designs from concept through production
You will be directly responsible for Amperesand's most unique and critical packaging designs, working with a global team across San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore. The role requires strong technical depth in packaging engineering, hands-on prototyping experience, and the ability to balance protection requirements with manufacturability and cost.
