Adyen is seeking an experienced Senior Observability Infrastructure Engineer to join the Platform Engineering organization. You will be responsible for building and operating observability systems at massive scale—managing petabytes of data and thousands of servers across hybrid on-premise and Kubernetes environments.
In this role, you will design and implement the next generation of logging and metrics infrastructure, supporting new global regions while ensuring data isolation and regulatory compliance. You will own the full lifecycle of over 1,500 servers across bare-metal and Kubernetes, focusing on automation to eliminate operational toil and enable self-service for internal product teams.
Key responsibilities include: architecting distributed logging and metrics systems; optimizing performance bottlenecks in high-volume data pipelines (Elasticsearch, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, OpenTelemetry); writing infrastructure-as-code in Go or Python to build self-healing systems; managing on-call rotations with emphasis on engineering preventative solutions; and implementing automated guardrails and quota management to prevent platform destabilization.
You will work with core observability tools including Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, Grafana Tempo, and production Kubernetes clusters. The role requires deep Linux kernel knowledge, strong Kubernetes operational expertise, and a software engineering mindset. You'll participate in a major platform transformation focused on automation and self-service enablement.
Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in observability, platform engineering, or infrastructure domains, with hands-on experience operating telemetry data stores at scale, production Kubernetes troubleshooting, and proficiency in Go or Python. Experience with multi-tenant isolation, quota governance, and regulated environments is a plus.
